SUMMER INFORMATION
School break is a wonderful time to relax and recharge for the upcoming school year.  It is also a time that can have a significant effect on a student's music education.  I am urging all members of the orchestra to continue playing their instruments throughout the summer months.  Set aside a small amount of time each week that is reserved for playing your instrument.  Play anything! Scales, songs you love, old concert music, anything!!!  Most of all have fun!  This will insure that you are prepared to begin the new school year with a running start.

Enjoy your summer!!!

Rehearsals
Winman Orchestra rehearsals are the one opportunity for the entire orchestra (7th and 8th grade) to rehearse and work together prior to a performance.  The importance of rehearsals cannot be overstated, therefore it is very important for all members to make it a priority to attend all rehearsals.  The rehearsal schedule is as follows:

Orchestra: Tuesdays from 2:15-3:00 in the Auditorium
Chamber Orchestra: Thursday from 2:15-3:00 in the Auditorium

Additional rehearsals may be scheduled as performances draw near.  Written notice will be provided prior to each additional rehearsal.

Private Lessons
All Winman Orchestra members are encouraged to take private lessons to enhance their musical learning, and have the opportunity to work with a professional educator/musician in a one-on-one setting.  Please click on the following link to view the names of local music schools and studios that currently have string teachers on staff.

Extra Help
Extra help is available for any member of the orchestra in the morning before school starting at 7am and running until the start of school (7:45).  If you are interested please speak to Mr. Kiley to set up an appointment.

About the Director
Mr. Peter Kiley has been the orchestra director at Winman Junior High School on two separate occasions.  Upon being appointed to the position of general music teacher at Winman in January of 2001, Mr. Kiley served as orchestra director.  At the end of the school year, he relinquished the director's position to focus on the general music program.  Mr. Kiley was honored to return as Orchestra Director in 2006, and has served since.  In the time between the orchestral positions, he has served as the Wind Ensemble Director, Jazz Band Director, assistant Concert Band conductor, and many other positions.
